A team of neuroscientists explores how vision and hearing change throughout life, and what we can do to keep these two important senses healthy and fully functional. This program is based on "neuro-plasticity" — the ability of the brain to rewire itself.

. Yanni: Voices - Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 10 p.m.

Popular performer Yanni and four young vocalists — Nathan Pacheco, Chloe, Ender Thomas and Leslie Mills — combine talents to offer an evening of new compositions and Yanni classics. The program features a behind-thescenes preview of the music from the new CD, "Yanni: Voices," and the upcoming concert tour.

. Great Performances, Dance in America: San Francisco Ballet's Nutcracker - Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 8 p.m.

Since "The Nutcracker's" first production more than a century ago, its alluring story, choreography and score have made it one of the most popular and enduring ballets. The Russian masterpiece received its first full-length American production in 1944 with the San Francisco Ballet. The company's contemporary reprisal sets the backdrop to San Francisco's 1915 Pan-Pacific Exposition. Re-airs: Sunday, Dec. 21, at 11 p.m.
