13th Medieval Faire at Lakes Park next month

The Riverdale Kiwanis have set their annual Medieval Faire for the weekends of Jan. 10-11 and Jan. 17-18 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers. This is the 13th year for the event, which is expected to draw more than 10,000 attendees.

The 2009 Riverdale Kiwanis Medieval Faire will feature jousting, a live chess match, live sword fighting, royal court, children's games and rides, jugglers, magicians, minstrels, period food and medieval-themed merchants. Touring medieval faire professionals will provide entertainment at the faire. Tickets will be available the day of the faire. Adult tickets are $13 and children 14 years and under are $6. Onsite parking is free.-

The Riverdale Kiwanis club is currently seeking event sponsors and vendors. All profits from the Medieval Faire go to the Kiwanis of Riverdale Foundation Fund to support such programs as Thanksgiving baskets for the needy, Christmas dinners, Buckingham Exception School, Orange River Elementary, Sunshine Elementary, school grants and scholarships.
