Lee County Animal Services will join more than 2,000 pet shelters and adoption centers across the country for Home 4 the Holidays 2008, a national event organized to raise awareness of the joys of owning shelter-adopted pets. City of Fort Myers government closed Thursday and Friday
The City of Fort Myers will observe the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 27. All city government offices, including the solid waste and utility billing offices, will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28. Full Story
Mileage reimbursement for Veterans going up
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced that eligible veterans will see an increase in the mileage reimbursement they receive for travel to VA facilities for medical care. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. James B. Peake said that he is raising the mileage reimbursement from 28.5 cents per mile to 41.5 cents per mile for all eligible veterans. Full Story
New Edison State bachelor degree programs exceed enrollment goals
In a few short weeks, Edison State College will welcome its first class of students seeking bachelor's degrees in elementary education and supervision and management. The spring class starting Jan. 7 will welcome more than 150 students to these two new programs alone. Full Story
CROW's 'Giving Tree Festival' Dec. 7
