Fort Myers-based Stevens Construction Inc. has been awarded the contract for the construction of a 10,796-squarefoot ambulatory surgery center by Regent Surgical Health. The center will be located at 3710 Lake Center Drive, Mount Dora.

Scheduled to break ground in late 2008, the new facility will feature two operating rooms, a minor procedure room, preoperation beds, post-operation beds and associate support service areas.

The Stevens Construction team includes project manager Christopher Cooke, Superintendent Mike Garland and project administrator Jacki Barnett. The architect is David Jass of Jass Associates.

Lehigh Acres-based Sunshine Structures, Inc., has begun the structural concrete and masonry on the 103,000-squarefoot MIMA Medical Office Building located at 1223 Gateway Blvd., Melbourne.

Marshall Erdman & Associates, the general contractor, awarded Sunshine Structures the contract to complete the structural package on this two-story tilt-wall building; this included all cast-in-place concrete, steel-reinforced tilt-walls and masonry. Sunshine Structures and their engineering team worked with the architect, MEA1, Inc., in the design of this building.

Russ McCone is the project manager for Sunshine Structures, and David Arjoon is project superintendent. The structural concrete is schedule for completion in December.

Fort Myers-based J.L. Wallace Inc. has reached the halfway point in construction of the clubhouse at Heritage Bay, located at 10188 Heritage Bay Blvd., Naples. When complete, the 37,380-square-foot two-story clubhouse, being built for Lennar Homes, will be the focal point of the Heritage Bay community. Amenities will include a full-service restaurant and bar, commercial kitchen, two saunas, golf pro shop, golf bag storage, card room, bar and grill area, and a second-story overlooking the golf course. The clubhouse will be accented with Coronado cultured stone to match the existing amenities in the Heritage Bay development that were also constructed by J.L. Wallace, Inc. David Grossman of J.L. Wallace is the project manager, Michael Seifert is superintendent and Robbyn Spears is project manager assistant. Architectural design services were provided by Titsch & Associates, Inc.

Herman • Strackbein Construction, Inc. has successfully completed the Snook Bight Yacht Club & Marina on Fort Myers Beach. Located at Marker 27 on Estero Bay, the full service marina included 58,000 square feet on the 3.5 acre site. While the marina maintained full operations, HSC constructed a state-of-the-art dry stack boat storage building rising five stories high and housing 201 boat racks, a boat sales showroom, service building, elevated pool and spa, club room, elevated restaurant over parking, locker and laundry facilities, waterside promenade, fuel dock and ships store. A pedestrian bridge connects the club amenity level to the restaurant level. McHarris Planning & Design of Bonita Springs provided architectural services.

Brooks and Freund, Inc. has donated $25,000 to help the Lee Building Industry Association Builders Care program provide free home repair services to disadvantaged Lee County residents. Builders Care is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee BIA. Its objective is to provide emergency repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged people who are unable to obtain home repairs through traditional means. Taylor-Pansing, Inc. has been awarded the contract to build QJR Eye Health Center of Lehigh Acres. This project was designed by Avalon Engineering, Inc. QJR Eye Health Center is located on Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. The building will be used as an additional location for the Eye Health Center. Its main office is located Fort Myers. Taylor-Pansing, Inc. is a certified American Society for Healthcare Engineering contractor.
