FLORIDA WEEKLY STAFF REPORT news@floridaweekly.com

Florida Weekly took home seven prestigious awards last month in the Florida Press Association's 2007-2008 Fall Advertising Contest.

Competing against all weekly and daily Florida newspapers, Creative Director Jim Dickerson was honored in four categories. He also won for ads he created for Lee Memorial Health System Foundation, Café Bonaparte, North Star Yacht Club and Southern Tropics.

"This is further proof that our graphic designers at Florida Weekly are the best in the business," said Mr. Dickerson. "The awards showcase the top-notch ads they create on a weekly basis for our clients."

The Press Association recognized newspaper advertisements in 32 categories.

Graphic designer Amanda Hartman won for her ad design for Sam Galloway Mazda.

The Florida Weekly design team and photographer Jerry Smith won for Best Cover, for "The Beaches of Lee County."

Graphic designer Kim Boone created the best real-estate advertisement, featuring a "Baby Boomer Bargain Basement Blowout!" for J.B. Novelli Internationale.

The Florida Press Association's Fall Advertising Contest is open to monthly, weekly, and daily newspaper members.

Florida Weekly has published Fort Myers Florida Weekly since April 2007 and Naples Florida Weekly since October.
