Area animal shelters struggle to stem flood of homeless animals
When hundreds of people and their pets converge on the grounds of Lee County Animal Services for the eighth annual Fall Pet Fest on Saturday, the mood will be festive, with games, goodies and fun. During September, more than 328,000 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 15 percent compared to September 2007. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down 5.7 percent over the same period last year. Full Story
Realtor report: Homes sales up again in Sept.
Lee County sales up 128 percent over last year
For the first time in almost three years, Florida's existing home sales rose in September, noting a 24 percent increase in activity in the year-to-year comparison; last month's sales of existing condos statewide increased 11 percent in the year-toyear comparison, according to the latest housing data released by the Florida Association of Realtors. Third-quarter sales strong for Stock Development
Continuing a strong year of new home sales, Stock Development has issued a stronger than expected third-quarter sales report. According to Brian Stock, CEO of Stock Development, the company signed 46 new home contracts at Paseo, Lely Resort and Vivanté with a total dollar value of $18.8 million. Full Story
