Act up with Florida Rep

Florida Repertory Theatre announces its second session of classes for youth and adults. The six-week class session begins Monday, Nov. 3. Classes meet on Monday nights through Dec.8.

Florida Rep's second fall session includes programming for ages 4 and up with classes focusing on fantasy characters, creative thinking and an intro to classical theatre. Enrollment is now open.

"We're vary excited to offer these three very different classes," said Education Director Rachael Endrizzi. "Our first session was very successful this season, and we're looking forward to the rest of the season."

Florida Rep's Education Department offers theater classes in the fall, winter and spring that are open to community members of all ages. These classes allow Florida Rep professionals to share their wealth of experience with those who are eager to learn more about theater. Areas of study include, but are not limited to: improvisation, theater games, movement, acting for youth, acting for adults and stage makeup. Specialized classes are also offered for home school families as well as parent organizations and playgroups.

. Fall Classes, Nov. 3 - Dec. 8 Fairy Tale Fantasy for ages 4-7.

Children can learn to bring their favorite characters to life in this weekly workshop that transforms kids to princesses, knights in shining armour and hideous monsters — all through their own creativity, imagination, voice and movement. Mondays 4 - 5 p.m. Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24, Dec. 1 and 8

6 Weeks - $90

. Creative Concoction for ages 8-11.

This class asks, "Is your child a character already?" This class will help your "character" focus those skills, and students will learn the basics of character development, including character analysis, vocal work and creative decisionmaking.

Mondays 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24, Dec. 1 and 8

6 Weeks - $90

. Intro to Classical Theatre for ages 14 and up.

Don't be scared of Shakespeare. It can be easy and fun when you learn the basics. In this class, students of all levels of experience will get to expand their knowledge of Shakespeare and other classic playwrights and bring their words to life in performance with a final performance showcase where students will be able to show off what they've learned. After all, All the World's Stage!
