Bikers hit the road for March of Dimes
The Southwest Coast Division of the March of Dimes is hosting its eighth annual law-enforcement escorted motorcycle ride Sunday, Nov. 2, in conjunction with the Harley-Davidson Dealerships in Fort Myers and Naples. More than 2,500 bikers are expected for the ride. The full weekend of events includes:
Friday Night Fright Night, Friday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 10 p.m. There will be a costume contest and live music by Backlash & Yazgars Farm. Bikers can also register for the Sunday ride.
Rumble Ride & Bike Night, is Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Registration for the ride is Sunday, Nov. 2, from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at North Collier Regional Park. The cost is $30 and $20 for a passenger. The 35-mile Law-Enforcement Escorted Ride leaves North Collier Park promptly at 11 a.m. and arrives at Harley-Davidson, Fort Myers for a celebration featuring food, awards and live entertainment.
All proceeds from the Bikers for Babies events will benefit the March of Dimes in its fight to save babies from birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Last year's ride attracted more than 2,300 motorcyclists and passengers (more than 11 miles of bikes) who raised nearly $170,000. Bikers for Babies 2008 is expected to draw more than 2,500 riders and passengers from all over the state with the goal of raising $200,000. Terrific incentive prizes will be given for money raised.
