Getting in tune with Edison State's new music director
Thomas Smith arrived at Edison State College in Fort Myers in late August, to become only the second music director in the school's history. He moved into the office that Dennis Hill had occupied as music director for more than 30 years. Full Story
First Street downtown open, Second Street now closed
First Street in downtown Fort Myers is open to through traffic after months of construction. Old, refurbished bricks have been cleaned and reused in the streetscape portion of the utility replacement project. PACE luncheon honors 'female spirit'
Community leaders and supporters of the PACE Center for Girls will "honor the female spirit" at the second annual Portraits of PACE luncheon Thursday, Nov. 13, at the International Design Center in Estero. The Southwest Coast Division of the March of Dimes is hosting its eighth annual law-enforcement escorted motorcycle ride Sunday, Nov. 2, in conjunction with the Harley-Davidson Dealerships in Fort Myers and Naples. More than 2,500 bikers are expected for the ride. Full Story

Homeowners Choice, Inc., a Florida-based insurance holding company, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Homeowners Choice Property & Casualty Insurance Company, Inc., has assumed approximately 45,000 homeowners' policies from Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, Florida's state-created insurance company.
