Adams The Florida League of Cities recently announced
Marie Adams, City of Fort Myers, as one of five finalists for the City Clerk of the Year Award. It's one of 10 awards to be presented
during the Florida Cities of Excellence Awards program. The City Clerk of the Year honors a city clerk who displays exceptional excellence in the following areas: judgment, initiative, integrity, innovation, professionalism commitment and citizen relations. Adams has been with the Fort Myers City Clerk's Office for more than 33 years. She started as secretary to the city clerk in 1972 and was promoted to administrative secretary in 1974. She became the deputy city clerk in 1983 and was sworn in as city clerk in 1990. She retired in July 1994 but returned in 1997 at the request of the mayor and remains as city clerk today.
