Photographer presents "FloridaTimeForgot" Oct. 16
Trampoline Event by Mark Renz Photograher Mark Renz will present "FloridaTimeForgot" at the monthly meeting of Audubon of Southwest Florida on Oct. 16.
As a fossil guide and author, the Fort Myers native wades chest-deep in our area's rivers and treks its terrain on a daily basis. Most recently, the avocational paleontologist has traveled to the Peruvian desert to dig up 10-million-year-old sharks, whales, dolphins and seals.
"Some of us don't escape to get away from it all," Renz said the impetus for his worldwide wanderings to capture images of nature. "We escape to return to it all. The further we flee from the wild, the more insane we become. It's only when we make our way back to the natural world, free of human alterations, that our soul really feels at home."
Renz is the author of "Fossiling In Florida" (University Press of Florida) and three books from PaleoPress: "Megalodon: Hunting the Hunter," "Giants in the Storm" and "Doug's Ark: Thinking Outside The Pile."
The program begins at 7 p.m. in the Eco Living Center (former library) at Rutenberg Park, on South Pointe Boulevard between Cypress Lake Drive and College Parkway in South Fort Myers. A book signing and refreshments will begin at 6 p.m.
The program is open to both Audubon members and the general public. Call 339- 8046 or visit audubonswfl.org for more information.
