Zimmerman Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner, Personal Injury Lawyers announced that Warren Zimmerman, the departing civil division chief of the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Middle District of Florida, has joined the firm as a civil trial attorney. Zimmerman handled dozens of jury and bench trials during his nearly 30-year career as a state and federal prosecutor. Since 1994, he has supervised up to 20 assistant United States attorneys in handling the federal district's civil caseload, including medical malpractice, premise liability and motor vehicle accident cases across the district, including Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Ocala, Punta Gorda, Naples and Fort Myers.
The Lee County Bar Association recently recognized a number of area firms for their pro bono work. During the LCBA's monthly luncheon on Friday, Sept. 26, awards were presented for the association's quarterly and year-end pro bono service competition. For the quarterly awards, which included complimentary services from June 1 through Aug. 31, Osterhout, McKinney & Prather, P.A., Lusk, Drasites, Tolisano & Smith, P.A. and John E. Evans III logged the top pro bono service hours. In the year-end awards, which considered services from Dec. 1 through Aug. 31, four firms were recognized for their outstanding pro bono totals. Wright & Shaw, P.A. and Osterhout, McKinney & Prather, P.A. tied for first. Osterhout, McKinney & Prather, P.A. was also recognized for the highest amount donated to legal services organizations. Attorney Brooke N. Bockemuehl was recognized for most individual hours donated and Diana L. Krueger was recognized as the individual lawyer with the largest financial amount donated to legal services organizations.
