New exhibit opens at Cape Coral Library

COURTESY PHOTO Honey Coast, Ristra Sunset COURTESY PHOTO Honey Coast, Ristra Sunset The Friends of the Cape Coral Library announce a new exhibit featuring the works of Honey Costa, Marcella Nase, Anisa Steward and Judy Van Inwegen. The exhibit runs through Oct. 31 at the gallery located at the Cape Coral Library, 921 SW 39th Terrace, off Mohawk Boulevard in Cape Coral. It's open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Costa began creating her watercolors in the hills of Pennsylvania while attending classes at the Baum School of Art. Five years of sailing the Windward Islands turned her subject matter of old barns and maple trees into the vibrant palette of the Caribbean. She is an award-winning artist both locally and nationally. Her art can always be viewed at home by private appointment and current works are featured at the Seaweed Galleries on Sanibel and Captiva, Crossed Palms Gallery in Bokeelia, Pine Island, Arts for Act, Fort Myers and the Katharine Butler Gallery in Sarasota.

Nase became captivated by the tropical wonders of Southwest Florida when her family bought property in Cape Coral in the 1960s. The Rose Garden and Waltzing Waters drew the crowds, but she found the palm trees and sandy beaches filled with glorious birds that captured her fancy.

Steward is an avid outdoor person and boater. The inspiration for her designs comes mainly from countless hours of boating from the Keys to Tampa. All of her work is hand carved in wax and then cast into 14 karat gold and non-tarnish sterling silver set with precious and semi-precious stones.

Van Inwegen's interest in the world of glass started in stained glass. She continued her glass art education with the best glass artists in the Bullseye Glass Company at Miami University. She also attends glass classes on a regular basis at the Cape Coral Art Studio. Today she shows her work in many exhibitions and juried shows in Southwest Florida.
