DisABLEd artist exhibition set

In celebration of disability awareness, The Rehabilitation Hospital and the Arts in Healthcare program at Lee Memorial Health System will host a juried art show featuring local disabled artists from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The event will take place on the fifth floor of The Rehabilitation Hospital, 2776 Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers.

More than 25 artists will compete to have their work selected for the Arts in Healthcare's 2009 calendar. The winner will receive $500 and their art will be on permanent display at The Rehabilitation Hospital.

Since its inception in 1997 within Lee Memorial Health System, Arts in Healthcare has developed into a multifaceted program offering a broad spectrum of creative arts to all ages. It is a nationwide movement that links the expressive arts with the healing arts and brings these into the mainstream of traditional healthcare to promote the well-being of those who are ill and their caregivers.
