Southwest Florida College moves program
Southwest Florida College is relocating its Interior Design program from its Fort Myers main campus to the International Design Center in Estero, where classes began this month.
Both a bachelor's of science degree and an associate degree will be offered. The bachelor's degree is designed to provide students with advanced levels of skill and knowledge in space planning, architectural detailing, furnishings, finishes, fabrics and fixtures for residential and commercial design fields. Preparation of contract documents, meeting code compliance and green design will also be covered. The associate degree is a two-year program providing students with the technical information and design skills necessary to work as an interior design assistant.
Southwest Florida College's Interior Design program is recognized and supported by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). It is part of an accredited program established by the NKBA to ensure consistent, quality education for students who desire to become kitchen or bathroom design professionals. The college has also qualified to have an American Society of Interior Designers student chapter.
The IDC is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Design referral services and special events spaces are available.
