Durling Richard F. Durling has been elected to the Florida Home Builder Association's Housing Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made signifi- cant and lasting contributions to the Florida home-building industry. Durling has been a relentless advocate for affordable housing in Florida. His bold efforts have brought about positive, logical changes in building codes and safe and efficient rules regarding on-site wastewater facilities. In addition he has been an opponent to excessive impact fees and ill-advised and arbitrary regulations.
Durling's company is one of less than 50 builders in the United States to have earned Home Buyer Warranty's prestigious Diamond Builder Award.
Patrick Byrne, a project engineer with Mathews Construction, has earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional designation from the U. S. Green Building Council. Byrne is the sixth member of the Mathews Construction team to earn this designation. A graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in business administration, Byrne also holds a Class A General Contractor's license. He has worked in construction for 11 years; the past two with Mathews in its Punta Gorda office.
Bell Owen-Ames- Kimball Company announced the appointment of General Superintendent
Frank Bell to the board of trustees for Charlotte Local Education Foundation. Bell is OAK's general superintendent and office manager for the Charlotte County market and has been with the company since 1982 when he transferred to the Florida operations from OAK's home office in Grand Rapids, Mich. Bell is a graduate of Davenport College of Business with a bachelor of arts in business and is an OAK stockholder.
