Family Thrift Centers, a used clothing and household furnishing store, will mark its official grand opening from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the store in its new building on Colonial Boulevard near Winkler Avenue. The new location affords more accessibility to Lee County shoppers from Lehigh Acres, Fort Myers, Cape Coral and travelers on I-75, which is only 1.5 miles east of the new location.

The store will re-open in the former 84 Lumber building at 4231 Colonial Blvd. and will mark its grand opening with many activities and incentives for shoppers, including giveaways and prize drawings, a live broadcast from Fox4 Rising, early bird specials for Family Thrifty Fifty shoppers including veterans from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., a Family Health Centers health fair, including free bloodpressure screenings, blood-sugar evaluations and cancer screenings, a morning remote from 1440-AM Ke Bueno WWCL radio, which also will have prize giveaways and food from Chile Ranchero, an afternoon remote from Oldies 92.5 with prizes, including refreshments and giveaways such as tickets to events at the Barbara B. Mann Hall Performing Arts Hall, the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, and the Edison Pops Concert featuring the band Blood, Sweat & Tears and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. with the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce.

Family Thrift purchases its merchandise from veterans' organizations, and handles more than 5,000 newly priced items each day. Discounts are added on most items for seniors 50 and over on Wednesdays. "We welcome the community to check out our new store, which offers an affordable way for families to outfit themselves while also finding something fun or special they might not find somewhere else," said owner Deirdre Mann.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is (239) 274-8821. For more information, go online to www. FamilyThrift.com
