John Yarbrough recalls breaking his leg sliding into a base on field No. 2 during a ball game at Terry Park when he was a boy. He remembers attending Southwest Florida's fair at the park, too, before the Lee Civic Center existed. FGCU researcher studying the way infants learn
March of Dimes grant key to finding answers

A researcher at Florida Gulf Coast University is trying to find out if infants that are born preterm are developmentally delayed in matching objects with words, thanks in part to a grant provided by the March of Dimes. Lakshmi J. Gogate was just awarded the $180,349 grant for the two-year study. Full Story

Adventure Training Concepts has opened the Discovery Challenge Course in Naples. The 5½ acre team-building course is conveniently located and is easily accessible from I-75, local businesses and local resorts. Community Disaster Relief Fund seeks to aid flood victims

The Southwest Florida Disaster Relief Fund has been activated to coordinate fundraising efforts in our community. Nearly 500 people, many who are children, remain indefinitely in the Estero Community Center because their homes have been flooded. Full Story

Estero Animal Hospital, a full-service veterinarian practice, has moved into its new freestanding clinic off Corkscrew Road in Estero. Traffic slides at International Airport

During July, nearly 503,000 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 6.1 percent compared to July 2007. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down 4.8 percent over the same period last year. Full Story
