2008 Bach Festival set for October in Bonita Springs

The Bach Ensemble is sponsoring a music festival Oct. 25 to encourage area music students to learn about the Baroque era and to perform compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach. The Bach Festival will be hosted by First Academy of Music, located at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs.

Each participating student will learn and memorize one composition by J.S. Bach, to be played before a qualified judge on the day of the Bach Festival. Each student will receive a rating sheet with comments on his/her performance, along with a certificate of participation.

It's open to music students in grades K-12. The application deadline is Friday, Sept. 19.

At the conclusion of the festival, judges will select a few outstanding performers from among the participating students. Each outstanding performer will receive a prize and be invited to perform at an upcoming Bach Ensemble concert or fundraiser.
