News-Press cuts jobs, sections and Spanish newspaper
The News-Press announced last week that it has cut 46 jobs or about 6 percent of its workforce as the newspaper scrambles to reduce costs and bolster sagging profits. The Gannett-owned newspaper also said it will stop publishing its Spanish-language weekly newspaper, Gaceta Tropical, and eliminate its Friday Lifestyles section and its Saturday Business section.
