Customs
Allyn International Services, Inc. announced the certification of Andy Butz, Matthew Dreckman and Jodi Tessier as Licensed Customs Brokers by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In April 2007, Butz, Dreckman and Tessier passed an 80-question exam administered by CBP. Upon passing the exam, Butz, Dreckman and Tessier were each required to submit an application for license to their CBP port director and undergo a multi-agency background investigation. Brokers are licensed, regulated and empowered by CBP to assist importers and exporters in meeting Federal requirements governing foreign trade. They must have expertise in entry procedures, admissibility requirements, classification, valuation, duty rates and applicable taxes and fees for imported merchandise. There are only 11,000 active licensed brokers in the United States.
