Sally Long, purchasing manager for the Lee County Port Authority, is the latest recipient of the Certified Professional Public Buyer certification conferred by the Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council. She also received certification from the State of Florida Division of State Purchasing as a Certified Contract Manager. The CPPB designation is an honor for individuals in the public purchasing profession who demonstrate a standard of competency, sound judgment and an asset to their specific division of governmental administration. Candidates are required to meet specific, rigorous criteria established by the UPPCC including training, experience and testing of the knowledge required for public purchasing professionals. The Council was jointly established in 1978 by the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing and the National Association of State Procurement Officials to independently administer certification and promote procurement professionalism in the public sector.
