Florida Gulf Coast University announced that Estero Bay Chevrolet has entered an agreement to provide seven cars to the Athletic Department for the next two years. Use of seven cars for two years is valued at $60,000.
"FGCU athletics is very excited about our new partnership with Charles Winton and Estero Bay Chevrolet," said FGCU Athletic Director Carl McAloose. "Because of the location and the cooperation of the personnel at Estero Bay Chevrolet, we believe this will be a very beneficial relationship for both of us. The combination of two outstanding products - Chevy and FGCU athletics - should prove to be a winning team. We look forward to a long lasting partnership with them."
The Estero Bay Chevrolet partners said they are equally pleased to work with the University.
"My partner Pat Denson and I have children in school and realize the importance of access to the University in our community," said Winton. "Since becoming part of the FGCU family, I felt it was a good way to show my commitment to the University.
General Motors and Chevrolet have always been committed to college athletics.
Part of our mission statement includes being an active and productive member of our community."
Athletic coaches use the cars in the performance of their duties including recruiting student athletes, scouting, speaking engagements and sometimes traveling to games.
