Camp Florida Rep now in session

Kids theater camp runs through August

Florida Rep's popular summer theater camp for ages 5 to 17 opened its doors last week, and campers are now hard at work putting together a production of "Disney's High School Musical the One Act" that will have a public performance on June 20.

"This is a very exciting way to begin the summer," said Rachael Endrizzi, the camp's director. "Our goal is to get young people excited about theatre, and to have fun while campers learn all about how to put on a play and to work together."

This summer, Camp Florida Rep consists of four Two-Week sessions in which campers will put on a full length musical, and an all new One-Week Intensive Theatre Training Program for ages 8 and up.

"Disney's High School Musical" is now in session and will be followed up with the all new Summer intensive (June 23-27), "Annie, Jr." (July 7-18), "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" (July 21-August 1) and "Willy Wonka, Jr." (August 4-15).

Each camp session finishes up with a public performance on the final day of camp at 5 p.m. in the Historic Arcade Theatre. Admission is $5 at the door (cash only).

"This summer camp production happily coincides with the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre's professional production of "High School Musical" later this summer," Endrizzi continued, "and all of our campers will receive a free ticket to see Broadway Palm's production that opens on July 31."

Camp Florida Rep is designed for children entering kindergarten through 12th grade. 7th through 12th grade students may register at a different level of price and responsibility to be a Star in Training, and the All New Intensive Training Week is available for children ages 8 and up.

Camp Florida Rep is a day camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.,

Monday through Friday with

arrival beginning at 8:45, and pick-up beginning at 4. Post-camp care is available for an additional $20 per week.

Enrollment is still open for some sessions, and the cost for the Two-Week sessions is $325 for K-6th graders, and $275 for the S.I.T. program. The cost for the One- Week summer intensive is $150. Each camp session is limited to 60 children, and a 50% non-refundable deposit is due with the registration form, and the balance is due on the first day of camp. Balance non-refundable after the first day of camp.
