Non-profit workshop set
COURTESY PHOTO Deborah Shane of Train With Shane When the going gets tough, where do the tough go? They turn to Southwest Florida's non-profit community. It could be food, clothing, medical, housing or other physical needs. It could be an unplanned pregnancy, a substance addiction, or the need for an emotional support group. Whatever the need, there is a non-profit group to answer it. But providing these answers requires money and in today's economy, finding funding requires creativity. The SWFLNon- Profit Workshop, presented by a team of marketing, public relations and business development experts, will address that need on Wednesday, June 11 from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Beacon Executive Suites.
Organized by Deborah Shane, of Train With Shane, the three-hour workshop will focus on the power of public relations, promotions and partnering to maximize the reach and results for non-profit organizations.
Shane will offer insight on the current trends in giving and marketing. Ginny Cooper, presidentelect of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association will speak on the power of PR for the non-profit. Carolyn Moore, Executive Director of the Island Coast Aids Network and Jennifer Benton, CEO of Abuse Counseling & Treatment, will discuss ICAN-ACT, a creative collaboration benefiting the ICANstruction Junction and Second Act Thrift Stores.
Seating is limited for the workshop and the $40 cost can be offset for nonprofits by applying for a $20 scholarship through the Southwest Florida Community Foundation. To register for the workshop call 939-1848 or register online at www.trainwithshanetoday. com/EventOrder.cfm.
