'Festival of Dance' set for June 15

Local students have teamed up with guest choreographers and professional dancers to present Dance Bochette's 2008 Festival of Dance, the annual celebration of ballet, modern, jazz, tap and cultural works. The show will be held Sunday, June 15.

This year's performance includes "Polovtsian Dances," a ballet from Borodin's opera "Prince Igor." The work was staged by Kim Tuttle, director of Dance Alive National Ballet, and features company artists Andre Valladon and Michelle Incollingo. Audiences are certain to recognize Borodin's familiar score, which has also been adopted for the Broadway musical "Kismet."

In addition, Valladon and Incollingo will perform the grand pas de deux from "Don Quixote," one of the bestknown scenes in classical ballet repertoire.

Dance Bochette students also worked with Sarasota-area Flamenco artist Isabel Dubrocq, who choreographed a high energy Latin piece, area tap dancer Ron Fucci and of course, inhouse teacher/choreographers Alyce Bochette, formerly of the Mark Morris Dance Group, and studio founder Jeanne Bochette, who has shared her love of dance with the Fort Myers area for 58 years.

Enjoy works from our baby ballerinas all the way up to our faculty members.

The Festival of Dance will be performed on Sunday, June 15, at 3 p.m. at Bishop Verot High School's Anderson Theater. All seats are $12 and tickets are available at the door.
