Alliance holding theater summer camp
This summer the Alliance for the Arts will team up with the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre to offer a one of kind experience for students interested in learning more about acting, dancing, and singing. Their new Musical Theatre Summer Camp for students entering 7th - 9th grades will include how to's on auditioning, singing, scene study, music theory, various styles of dance, behind-thescenes work, and more. The Alliance for the Arts is excited to offer this new opportunity at the Broadway Palm Off Broadway Theatre and proud to have two professional actresses, Amy Marie McCleary and Keara Trummel, directing and instructing the camp. Each week long session will have a different theme including numbers from a variety of Broadway shows. For instance, during "Wild West" week, material and dances from "Annie Get your Gun," "Will Rogers Follies," "Oklahoma" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" will be featured. Each Friday, campers will show off their newly acquired skills for family and friends on the Off Broadway Palm Stage. In addition to learning invaluable skills from seasoned actors, the camp will also include a matinee performance and a behind the scenes look at a working theatre. The four weekly camps run July 7 - Aug. 1 and are limited to only 25 students. Visit www.artinlee.org or call 939-2787 for more details.
