Lee Mental Health counselor available in Cape

Lee Mental Health Center, Inc., a private not-for-profit agency, announced that a licensed mental health counselor will be available in Cape Coral beginning on May 21.

The mental health counselor will work from an office at the Cape Coral United Way House at 1105 Cultural Park Blvd. The counselor will be available to see adults and children, in both individual and group settings, for a variety of mental health needs. To begin the process, clients must first come to Lee Mental Health Center's Ruth Cooper Campus (Access Center, Bldg. I) at 2789 Ortiz Ave. in Fort Myers for a free assessment, Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. and then a referral may be made for outpatient therapy at the Cape Coral location.

Fees for service are affordable and may be adjusted to the means of the client. Medicaid, Medicare, some major health insurance providers, Visa and Mastercard are also accepted as payment. During the assessment process, clients will meet with a financial counselor to determine exact cost.

"Our mental health counselor will also be able to provide clients with referrals to additional resources within the community such as those offered by Lee Mental Health, Southwest Florida Addiction Services, United Way or the National Alliance on Mental Illness," said Jennifer Spencer, Lee Mental Health's Chief Operating Officer. "Funding for this counselor is a result of a grant received by our agency from the Cape Coral Community Foundation. The Foundation clearly saw the need for this service in Cape Coral and we are pleased to bring this critical service to Cape residents."

For more information, Cape Coral residents in need of mental health services are encouraged to call Lee Mental Health at (239) 275-3222 and request the Access Center.
