"Pet Food Pantry" now open

In recent weeks, all dogs and cats housed at Gulf Coast Humane Society have transitioned to a consistent diet of Purina ONE brand pet food products only. As a result of the new diet, Gulf Coast Humane Society now receives hundreds of pounds of donated pet food each week that would otherwise go unused.

In an effort to meet the needs of our community, all pet food brand products other than Purina ONE will be offered to the community in the new GCHS Community Pet Food Pantry for a donation to our Pet Food Fund.

Gulf Coast Humane Society has received numerous calls from concerned pet parents stating that they can no longer afford to feed their pets in addition to experiencing an overall increase in the number of pets surrendered to the shelter as the result of economic hardship.

The Community Pet Food Pantry is housed inside the Gulf Coast Humane Society Adoption Center and will be open to the public seven days a week, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3:30 p.m.

Donations of Purina ONE brand pet food products are still desperately needed and graciously accepted seven days a week at our shelter facility located at 2010 Arcadia Street in Fort Myers. Thanks to a partnership with Publix Super Markets, pet food and supplies can also be donated at the following nine Publix locations throughout Lee County:

Bonita Springs: Bonita Beach Road

Cape Coral: Veterans & Santa Barbara

Fort Myers: Fiddlesticks, Summerlin & Colonial, College & 41, Gladiolus & San Carlos

Lehigh Acres: Lehigh Acres Town Center North Fort Myers: Hancock Bridge Parkway & Orange Grove, Del-Tura & 41

GCHS is always in need of other nonfood items and will continue to utilize these donations on a daily basis. Some non-food items we are always in need of: clay cat litter, bleach, laundry detergent, dish

soap, towels and blankets, and paper towel and toilet tissue.

Donations to the Pet Food Fund can also be mailed to Gulf Coast Humane Society at 2010 Arcadia Street in Fort Myers, FL33916, Attention: Pet Food Fund. For more information, please call (239) 332-0364, ext. 308.
