Gulf Coast Humane Society celebrates "Be Kind to Animals" week

In honor of national "Be Kind to Animals" week and to encourage pet adoption throughout Southwest Florida, Gulf Coast Humane Society is reducing all pet adoption fees by $5 for the month of May.

With over 180 adoptable pets awaiting forever homes and more animals being surrendered each day, Gulf Coast Humane Soci- ety hopes to place 125 dogs, cats, rabbits, and ferrets into new forever homes by May 31.

Traditional adoption fees range from $55 to $125 for dogs and puppies, $45 to $105 for cats and kittens, $20 for rabbits, and $60 for ferrets. Throughout May, all adoption fees will be reduced by $5.

Included in the cost of adopting a pet from Gulf Coast Humane Society are the following: Spay/neuter surgery Initial vaccinations Microchip identification implant Rabies vaccination Lee County license (if applicable) De-worming Heartworm test (dogs) FIV/leukemia Test (cats)

Gulf Coast Humane Society will also host a special Memorial Day weekend Adopt-AThon on May 24-25. All adoption fees will be reduced an additional $10 for a total savings of $15 off each approved adoption.

Gulf Coast Humane Society is open seven days a week. Hours are Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday noon to 3:30 p.m. The GCHS Adoption Center is located at 2010 Arcadia Street in Fort Myers across from Fleamasters Fleamarket, approximately two miles west of I-75 on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
