Musician donates proceeds from album to skin cancer research
Dr. Andrew Jaffe, a renowned Southwest Florida dermatologist, is also an up and coming musician.
As the lead singer for the Phoenix Block, whose album, Chemtrail, was released this month, Dr. Jaffe wanted to find a way to combine his talent and passion for music with his desire to increase awareness of the dangers of skin cancer.
Determined to make a difference, he produced a video for his band's hit single, "My One," linking it to skin cancer awareness. "My One" is a song about the loss of a companion which runs over clips and statistics about skin cancer in this heartfelt dedication to those who have lost a loved one to melanoma while also drawing attention to the shocking but factual statistics. "By raising awareness, we are saving lives," Jaffe said. "The five-year survival rate for those whose melanoma is detected and treated before it spreads to the lymph nodes is 99 percent."
To take it a step further, Jaffe's band will be dedicating a portion of album sales to proceeds for the skin cancer foundation for the entire month of May.
