Utility, street closures continue downtown

More work being done on parts of First Street

With nearly half of the Downtown Utility and Streetscape Improvements complete, progress on the remaining portion continues through the downtown "core" area. Construction continues on First Street with the addition of First Street from Heitman Street to Monroe Street in the "under construction" status. Construction on this block is expected to be complete in September.

Drive thru bank customers must access Edison National Bank and SunTrust drive thru using the temporary entrance on southbound Monroe Street, just south of Bay Street.

Roads under construction are as follows:

• First Street from Jackson Street to Dean Street AND from Heitman Street to Monroe Street

• Hendry Street from First Street to Bay Street

• Broadway from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to south of Second Street

• Richmond Street from Lee Street to Royal Palm Avenue

• Royal Palm Avenue from First Street to Second Street

Travel through downtown Fort Myers on the following open roads:

• Edwards Drive (east-west) • Bay Street (east-west) • Second Street (east-west) • Jackson Street (north-south) • Lee Street (north-south) • Monroe Street (north-south)
