Self-defense programs available

Lee Center for Rehabilitation & Wellness will hold a women's self-defense class from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, May 8 in its conference room. The center is located at 2070 Carrell Road, Fort Myers.

The class, "Self-Defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange," will be taught by the Lee County Sheriff's Department and consist of a film, lecture and practical application. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.

The Sheriff's Department will return to the center for a safety lecture at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13. This lecture will deal with precautions you can take to reduce your likelihood of becoming a victim.

Both programs are free and open to the public but seating is limited. To sign up for either program or for information, call Lee Center for Rehabilitation & Wellness at (239) 418-2000.
