1 million travelers use airport in March

During the month of March, 1,030,151 passengers traveled through the airport. It's only the third time in the 25-year history of Southwest Florida International Airport that more than 1 million travelers have been accommodated in a single month.

The traffic leader for the month of March was AirTran with 144,393 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were JetBlue (119,328), Delta (112,346), Northwest (95,442) and US Airways (94,457).

At Southwest Florida International Airport, there were 11,074 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings) recorded, a slight decrease of 0.55 percent from last March. Page Field General Aviation Airport saw 6,815 movements. In addition, over 3 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in March.
