New Fort Myers college receives approval to start classes

Rasmussen College recently received approval from its regional accrediting body, the Higher Learning Commission, to open its newest campus in Fort Myers this fall.

The Fort Myers campus will be the third Rasmussen College campus in Florida; the other two are in Tampa Bay and Ocala. Including the new Fort Myers campus, Rasmussen has fourteen campuses overall: six in Minnesota, two in North Dakota, one in Illinois, the other two in Florida, and it operates Rasmussen College Online- a national online division of the college.

"The addition of the Fort Myers campus is an exciting step for Rasmussen College," Rasmussen College President Kristi Waite said. "We are an institution dedicated to serving our community, and we look forward to providing the high quality academic and support services we are known for to the community of Fort Myers."

The primary focus of the Fort Myers campus will be in the School of Technology and Design and the School of Allied. The campus will also offer its core programs in the School of Business and the School of Justice Studies.

The Fort Myers campus is located at 9150 Forum Corporate Parkway and is a part of the The Forum, a new development east of I-75 and Colonial Boulevard. In addition to new retail shops like the Home Depot, Rasmussen College will occupy almost 18,000 square feet.

Rasmussen College was founded in 1900 in St. Paul, Minn. and is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
