School Foundation looking for mentors
Impact a child's life forever
The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. is recruiting mentors for high school and middle school students.
Mentors are needed in all the district public high schools and for Bonita Springs Middle, Dunbar Middle, Fort Myers Middle, Lee Middle, Lehigh Acres Middle, Michigan Montessori, North Fort Myers Academy, and Three Oaks Middle School.
Foundation officials said a new group of 6th-9th grade students will receive a Take Stock in Children College Scholarship through the Foundation's scholarship program. These young people will need a mentor who will guide them through their challenging school years. Volunteers will spend just thirty minutes, two to three times a month, with a student. The impact that this makes in their lives is beyond measure.
Background and Sexual Predator checks are done on every mentor. Mentors are assigned to a student of the same sex. The mentor becomes a role model and student advocate.
Mentors are the key to ensuring student success.
