Museum opens summer camp registration

The Imaginarium and the Southwest Florida Museum of History announced their Summer Camps 2008 registration is now open for rising Pre-K-8th graders with exciting summer camps that feature weekly themes at both museums!

From June 16 through Aug. 15 both Camp Imaginarium and the Fun at the Fort Adventure Camp will offer exciting summer camp sessions filled with special guests, educational hands-on activities, demonstrations, and exhibit exploration. Both camps use an innovative curriculum integrating science and the arts and humanities to inspire the imagination and encourage a love of learning.

Additionally, the museums are providing an opportunity for learning and hands-on experience for older youth through the museums' Jr. Camp Assistant Training Program. This program is an exciting professional development opportunity for rising 8th - 12th grade students who are interested in working with children in an educational setting, in our Camp Imaginarium weekly summer sessions. Students can apply to assist museum staff, camp educators, and assistants with the day-to-day camp activities. Be sure to check with your school for volunteer hours or community-service credit.

Extended care for pre and post-camp is available. Save $5/week when you register before April 15; sibling discounts are also available. Download the complete brochure and registration form at www.cityftmyers. com/imaginarium or call 337-3332 for more information. The Imaginarium Hands-On Museum is located at 2000 Cranford Ave in downtown Ft. Myers.
