The Lee Memorial Health System Foundation announced the final totals from their Feb. 21 Minnesota Twins Celebrity Golf Classic. In its 10th consecutive year, the tournament is always a sold-out event and takes place each year during the Minnesota Twins' Spring Training Season in Fort Myers.
Major sponsors of this year's tournament included Skanska, Sports Adventures, Regions Bank, Perkins & Will, Team Scotti, John J. Kirlin and SEI.
All proceeds from this year's tournament will be directed toward the new Lee Cancer Care Center, which is being constructed at the corner of I-75 and Colonial Boulevard. The new Cancer Center is scheduled to open in October of this year and will provide state-of-the-art consultation, diagnostics and programs for Southwest Florida residents who are battling cancer.
"We are extremely grateful to the Minnesota Twins, their management and the tournament committee for their continued dedication to the fight against cancer," said Sharon MacDonald, Chief Foundation Officer for Lee Memorial Health System. "The funds raised from the tournament will help us to continue to provide excellence in oncology treatment and programs right here at home."
