February traffic up at airport

During the month of February, nearly 846,000 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 0.5 percent compared to February 2007.

The traffic leader for the month of February was AirTran with 115,417 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were JetBlue (105,225), Delta (93,287), US Airways (78,414) and Southwest (71,901).

At Southwest Florida International Airport, there were 8,945 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings) recorded, a decrease of 1.4 percent from last February. Page Field General Aviation Airport saw 6,818 movements this February. In addition, over 3.1 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in February 2008.
