Florida Gulf Coast University Ombudsman Office announced the appointment of Katherine Hale, professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, to the position of part-time assistant to the Campus Ombuds to address faculty issues. Hale earned a Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma, a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts from Abilene Christian University. She currently serves as faculty at FGCU in the Department of Communication and Philosophy. During the fall/spring session, she will be given a three semester hour release time for this part-time assignment. The Ombuds Office provides confidential, informal, independent, and neutral dispute resolution services for all members of the University community. The office assists students, faculty and staff in identifying and evaluating options for resolving and managing conflicts, provides mediation services, conducts workshops on conflict management, and makes referrals to other appropriate University and community resources.
