Oasis of orchids in Naples ..

An Oasis of Orchids will be the theme at the Naples Orchid Society's 35th annual orchid show and sale. This year's show will be March 14-16 in McSpadden Hall at the Naples United Church of Christ, 5200 Crayton Road, Naples. The church is on the corner of Crayton Road and Seagate Drive, close to the Waterside Shops. Hours are Friday from 3 to 6:30 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Admission is $6 and children under 12 are free. A coupon or a clipped orchid show ad from the newspaper will be good for one dollar off the ticket price at the door. The coupons are available online at www.naplesorchidsociety.com or on show advertising cards at various locations around Collier County.

The Naples Rotary Club is again cosponsoring the show this year to benefit the local children's charity, Laces of Love, which provides new shoes to low income and disadvantaged children in Collier and Lee counties. Last year Laces of Love received $10,275 from the Naples Rotary Club. This amount included $5,275 of the show's net proceeds with another $5,000 matched by the Rotary.

Show and exhibition rules and regulations may be obtained at the next Naples Orchid Society meeting at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the SW Conservancy Auditorium, 1450 Merrihue Drive, Naples or at McSpadden Hall on March 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. when entries will be accepted.

Guests are invited to attend the regular meetings of the Naples Orchid Society at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the SW Conservancy Auditorium. Membership dues are $35 for those who wish to join.
