Earlier this month 36 students from Lee County High Tech Center Central competed in the Region 6 Health Occupation Students of America's annual competition. HOSA is a national organization for students enrolled in health-related training. The students participated in written tests, public speaking, posters for education, medical math, medical terminology, demonstrations, nutrition, and job-seeking skills. A team of skilled judges evaluated students either on written tests or in the clinical setting for appropriate skill performance, analysis of medical situations, problemsolving and thinking skills.

The following Practical Nursing students received medals:

Marian Seifert, Medical Terminology, Gold Medal

Wendy Juarez, Medical Terminology, Silver Medal

Megan Lafave, Job-Seeking Skills, Gold Medal

These students earned the right to participate at the state level Florida Leadership Conference which will be held in Orlando, April 10-13.
