Expansion progressing at new hospital
$286 million Gulf Coast Hospital set to open next year
It might still be a year away from occupancy, but Gulf Coast Hospital staff showed off its four-story addition to the media last week. "We wanted to let people know what's coming in about a year," said Lynn Melvin, Lee Memorial Health System's spokesperson. "The hospital could open in the first quarter of 2009. Full Story

Sunrise Easter service set for City of Palms Park
Congregations from throughout Southwest Florida will gather at City of Palms Park in downtown Fort Myers Easter Sunday, March 23, to worship and to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Kevin Lewis named Citizen of the Year
The Lee County Board of County Commissioners selected Kevin Lewis, the Chief Executive Officer of the Southwest Florida Addiction Services, as the recipient of the Paulette Burton Citizen of the Year award for 2007. The Board made the announcement at its Tuesday, Feb. 19 meeting. Full Story
