The Friends of the Cape Coral Library will celebrate the fifth anniversary of library's art gallery from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5 at the Cape Coral Library, 921 SW 39th Terrace.

The public is invited to meet the artists, enjoy a catered reception by Pignoli from Cape Harbour, and listen to music by St. James Creek.

Sponsored by the Friends to promote art in the community, the gallery has hosted more than 300 Southwest Florida artists and craftspeople and has displayed all varieties of arts and crafts including paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, wood, fiber, clay, quilts and metal works. The Gallery has featured school and college artists; the physically handicapped, developmentally disabled, and work from the treasured local artists, many of whom enjoy national recog- nition. It is estimated that over half a million patrons will visit the Cape Coral Library and be able to view the pieces displayed.

During March, the Southwest Florida Branch of the National League of American Pen Women will display their creations. Headquartered in Washington D.C., the Pen Women have a rich heritage of encouraging women in art and publishing. The Southwest Florida Branch funds scholarships for worthy local young women desiring to further their careers in the field of art, literature or music.
