"Vivien Leigh" play now at BIG ARTS
Marcy Lafferty as Vivien Leigh Shortly after "Gone with the Wind" was published in Britain, an obscure English actress named Vivien Leigh decided she would play Scarlett O'Hara. Two years later, she landed the role. The ambitious young woman's rapid ascent to stardom, and the on-screen victories and off-screen tempests that characterized her life will be recounted in the one woman play "Vivien Leigh: The Last Press Conference," at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at BIG ARTS, 900 Dunlop Rd., Sanibel. Tickets are $35.
Marcy Lafferty wrote and stars as an aging Vivien Leigh. Driven by manic depression and tuberculosis, Leigh attempts to define herself one last time.
Marcy Lafferty has appeared in more than 60 plays internationally. She toured the nation in "Love Letters" with William Shatner to whom she was married for 20 years.
