Jansen, Subway Housing, Oil and Mixed Media on Canvas Jansen, Subway Housing, Oil and Mixed Media on Canvas BIG ARTS of Sanibel will present the Expressionism Invitational, featuring three nationally and internationally acclaimed artists: Marcus Antonius Jansen, Joan Brechin Sonnenberg and Robert Cipriani now until March 1 in Phillips Gallery.

An artists' reception will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16

at BIG ARTS, 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.

Robert Cipriani, a graphic designer by trade, began to paint seriously when he was 60. His Evolving Expressionism style unites warm pastels and nature motifs with intense and vibrant color.

Marcus Antonius Jansen, internationally acclaimed as a Modern Urban Expressionist was born in New York City, and he draws from the old architecture and graffiti of his birthplace combined with a mix of human experience to create edgy art.

Joan Brechin Sonnenberg is passionate about art from abstract to realistic. She paints subjects that are provocative - her work is so strong and bold that many at first impression think a man must have created it, not this softspoken woman.
