Florida Rep offers kids acting programs

These classes, led by theatre professionals, offer community members a chance to gain insight into the world of theatre and hone their dramatic skills. All three Winter Classes promise to be educational and entertaining. Movin' and Groovin' for children ages 4 to 7

In this class, imaginative play and creative movement will transport students to the wonderful world of make-believe. Students will participate in an action-packed class combining dance, acting and storytelling. This is a fantastic way to introduce your child to the world of theatre and performance. This six-week program will be held on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. on Jan. 21, 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25. This class is led by Florida Rep ensemble member and Director of Audience Development, Rachel Burttram. The cost is $90. Story Theatre Workshop for ages 8 to 13

In this youth workshop students will explore the amazing world of storytelling. Through Reader's Theatre exercises, games and activities, students will learn the fundamentals of this age-old art form, while developing their performance skills. Taught by Florida Rep ensemble member, Rachael Endrizzi, this class is held on Mondays from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Jan. 21, 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25. The cost is $90. Comedy Tonight! Comedic Acting for ages 14 and up

Veteran Professional actress Carol A. Provonsha is ready to get silly in this hilarious workshop that takes a look at the fun and funny styles of comedic acting. In honor of Florida Rep's musical farce, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, students will learn the fundamentals of Improv, Commedia dell'Arte and Musical Comedy. This class is held on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 21, 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25. The cost is $120.
