Senior Expo celebrates 20th year in Lee County

Today's seniors are leading healthier, more vigorous lives than ever before. And, as people add years to their lives, they are actively seeking ways to add life to their years. That's what the Senior Expo experience is all about. At Lee County's 20th Annual Senior Expo, the 50-plus set will see what's new for today's energetic seniors. The Senior Expo takes place Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 16 and 17 (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers (at the corner of Monroe Street and Edwards Drive, on the river). Admission and parking is free.

Florida's largest annual gathering of Seniors, the Lee County Senior Expo features two days of information and entertainment. Attendees will learn how to make their investments work for them, discover travel opportunities, gather information about health insurance and senior living options, and experience new recreation and fitness choices. They will also have the opportunity to take advantage of a variety of health testing and screenings, offered by qualified medical practitioners.

"Statistics tell us that 46 percent of Lee County's year round population is over the age of 50 (about 240,000 people)," said Bill Anderson of Expo Marketing. "And, this group of people is actively looking to the future. Whether they are thinking about retirement or simply thinking about next year's vacation, they are making plans and looking to see what is available to them. They are eager to learn and explore all the possibilities available. Free educational seminars are also presented."

More than 140 companies will be on hand, to present their products and services to the more than 15,000 people expected to attend the mid-week Senior Expo. Among the attractions at the Senior Expo are the hourly drawings for door prizes donated by the participating companies. They will also enjoy two full days of entertainment including music and dancing.

Lee County's 20th Annual Senior Expo is presented by The News Press and sponsored by Comcast, Snead Cataract, WAVV FM and Expo Marketing, Inc. For more information contact Expo Marketing at (239) 466-6300. Ext. 10 or visit Expo Marketing online at www.ExpoTradeShows.net.
