BIG ARTS exhibit set
The Phillips Gallery at BIG ARTS
on Sanibel is featuring an exhibit from its instructors. The "Faculty Exhibit"
runs through Jan. 5.
It's a showcase of the talented instructors whose passion and experience
entice hun-dreds of students to return to BIG ARTS visual arts classes season
after season. Following a stroll through the gallery, you may wish to stop by
the box office and enroll in a class taught by the creator of your favorite
piece. Full workshop guides with class times, descriptions, and artist bios are
also available in the box office.
The artists on display include:
Anne Kittel -- An accomplished water-colorist, she has
studied with many nationally acclaimed artists and has achieved signature
membership in state and national watercolor societies.
Don Maurer -- He utilizes giclee in addition to other
mediums, and has previously taught "Advanced Acrylic Painting" and "Seeing Art"
at BIG ARTS.
Patty Kane -- An acrylic artist, she for-merly taught at
Creadle School of Art, and has received multiple awards.
Gail Jones -- Jones maintains her own studio, Full Circle
Pottery, and is represented in galleries across the U.S. Her creations include
crystalline and raku, and she has studied sculpture and pottery in both England
and Australia.
COURTESY PHOTO Silver bracelet by Pilar Baker Carol Hagerman - Hagerman is an award-winning watercolor artist whose work is part of many private and corporate collections across America and abroad.
Mona Gleitz - Using techniques such as Gyotaku and Monoprint, this former Nature Printing Society president has spent nearly a dozen years creating nature prints, and has taught in places as distant as Alaska and New Zealand.
Mary Ann Devos - The Director of Education for Precious Metal Clay Connection, Devos has traveled throughout the world teaching PMC techniques.
Carolyn Councell - Primarily a watercolor artist, she is represented in many galleries in the Mid-Atlantic area. Councell teaches mixed media and watercolor at BIG ARTS.
Judith Barnet - A pastel paint artist whose work has been displayed in along the East Coast as well as Sanibel and Captiva.
Pilar Baker - An expert in jewelry and metalsmithing, Baker's works are a union of her innermost feelings and her love for pure geometric line and form.
Edythe Newbourne - Newbourne has been featured in one-man shows across the country and has taught several Chinese Brush Painting classes and seminars for students of all levels of experience.
