Golf event raises $1.2 million for Immokalee foundation

The Third Annual Immokalee Foundation Pro-Am Golf Challenge was sold out this year at Bay Colony Golf Club in Naples on Monday, Nov. 12 at the 9:15 a.m. shotgun for the five-player scramble. The event was presented by Fifth Third Bank and cosponsored by Naples Luxury Imports and Bigham Jewelers. There were 26 teams of four competing, including one team from the Immokalee High School golf team. Each had a professional on their team including standouts such as Peter Jacobson, Calvin Peete, Esteban Toledo and baseball hall-offamer Johnny Bench.

This year all of the proceeds from the entry fees went straight to the foundation which benefits the children of Immokalee with college scholarship programs and vocational programs at their high school.

"We are so excited to raise over $1.2 million to help The Immokalee Foundation continue its work with scholarships for Immokalee's underprivileged children," said Leo Hertzog, the foundation's 2007 Events Chairman. "The foundation's work is so important to the community. We thank all of our sponsors for supporting this wonderful event."

The Pro-Am Golf Challenge is one of three events held this year. Additional events included, the "Magical Dreams" benefit

dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, which was on Nov. 9, and the Pro-Am Charity

Classic held on April 3 of this year which raised over $75,000.
